Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are amazing. We are one of the top Title I schools in our county; scoring a continuous A or B for the last 10+ years. Our students and parents highly value education and it shows in all our students achieve.

Our school is composed of 87% Hispanic, 2.6% African American, and 1.2% Asian.

The majority of our students originate from Spanish speaking countries, primarily Cuba. 91.3% of our students are on free or reduced-price lunch.

Our school environment is one where students feel safe, valued, and cared for. We pride ourselves on making our students feel at home away from home.

My Project

Every year the curriculum becomes more intense and students are required to know more about technology in order to be successful. This ranges anywhere from typing to research to coding. My goal is to give my students as much exposure to technology as possible during the school day.

With my students having access to Chromebooks they will have a much easier time conducting research prior to experiments in science.

Currently, we only have 2 computers for 22 students. These Chromebooks will also extend into math and reading programs such as I-ready so students will have more screen time to meet their individual goals.
