My class is made up of 12 hardworking, funny, and curious students.
My classroom is very diverse. Some may look at diversity as how each one of us is different from one another but I on the other hand look at diversity as how we can embrace the uniqueness of one another. This is a reflection of my perception of teaching. Each one of my students is different from the next in terms of interests, motivation, and the type of learner that they are.
Although there are many differences among my students, there is one similarity that stands out among all twelve of them. I can see that my students have a huge interest when it comes to technology. For my students, the use of technology within the classroom is extremely motivating and important. The ability to use technology within the classroom is not only exciting and motivating, but it will help embrace the diversity within my classroom!
My Project
My students love hands-on activities, project based learning experiences and support each other in the classroom at all times. The ability to have six Chromebooks within our classroom will provide my students with endless opportunities. No matter the subject area, learning will now be that much more fun. As a 4th and 5th grade teacher I believe the a big challenge for teachers is how to ensure that our students remain engaged and motivated. I am a firm believer that despite my students diverse learning needs and the challenges that my students face inside and outside of school, when technology is incorporated into the curriculum students are way more eager to learn.
My students need a great deal of differentiation in all subject areas and activities and with the use of technology they will continue to thrive and succeed.
Efficient integration of technology into our daily curriculum will help. Online lessons, presentations, educational videos, and learning games provide the stimulation needed while sustaining the attention of those who find concentration most difficult. The opportunity for each one of my students to have access to their own laptop will make learning that much better and successful.
