Help me give my students consistent access to Chromebooks! Having Chromebooks in our classrooms would allow us to integrate technology into every lesson, every day, and increase our students' academic successes.
Our 5th grade is comprised of 78 incredible students who go out of their way every day to offer a compliment, help out a friend, or simply give someone a smile. 60% of our students are English Language Learners and 30% are Diverse Learners (Special Education Students). Our students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds and truly represent the incredible diversity of Chicago. Many of our students also come from low-income households and do not have reliable access to computers or internet outside of school.
These 5th graders are passionate learners and put their best effort into everything they do: every morning when we share how we are feeling at our Morning Meeting, students respond that they are excited to be at school and ready to start the day.
We have put in a lot of time, love, and money into my classroom in order to make it a safe and welcoming space for my students and any donations you make will continue to foster this environment as well as help increase my students' academic successes!
My Project
These Chromebooks would be an invaluable addition to our classrooms. Although our school is fortunate to have some shared technology, having a set of Chromebooks in our classroom would allow us as a 5th grade team to integrate technology into every lesson, every day. There are a plethora of incredible educational websites that allow us as teachers to individualize student learning. Having Chromebooks in our room would allow us to use these programs regularly and therefore have the greatest impact on our students. Additionally, increased regular use of technology helps increase our students technological literacy - an increasingly important skill in the 21st century.
The majority of my students do not have access to computers outside of school - having a classroom set of Chromebooks would ensure that they all have access to the incredible academic resources that technology provides.
