My Students

How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?

The students in my classroom are students who are not only learning high school content, but learning the English language at the same time.

Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school. My classes serve students with a range of languages, cultures, and different experiences. My students are resilient and wise but are still teenagers who need adult support! Help me to help my students!

My Project

My students need eight HP Chromebooks to help support their language development and expand their digital literacy beyond smartphones. Having a set of Chromebooks will allow for a different structures of learning in my classroom. One way they will be used is during class research. Students can look up pictures, videos, and translated sources while learning about the world to become global citizens.

Recently, we researched Post War Countries, but resources are limited without computers.

Students can look at pictures and make observations about that moment in history. Having group Chromebooks will allow for collaborative and group findings by sharing through the cloud. I could download apps for various activities, which would allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
