This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing! They are curious and passionate and kind. We are in one of the most diverse classrooms I have ever seen; students of all backgrounds come together at CIS.
We love hands-on Science and the students are constantly tinkering with something or other in our classroom.
My students especially love to be part of shaping their own learning and learning environment-- that's where we hope DonorsChoose.org might help. We build Rube Goldbergs to learn about energy transformation and build Earthquake proof structures to withstand Jello quakes during plate tectonics. You name the experiment, and my kiddos will dive in head first.
My Project
Everyone knows that technology literacy is important. Many of my students do not have their own device to bring to school and we do not have enough technology resources for our middle school learners. Currently, technology is left out of many lesson plans or students need to work in groups huddled around one device to complete research tasks.
Students can use the Chromebooks to conduct research, create presentations to share with the class, and take quizzes with "live" feedback to improve their learning.
Developing typing and tech-savvy skills will be important to our students' success in high school and college, as well as in careers they choose.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
As a teacher-founded nonprofit, we're trusted by thousands of teachers and supporters across the country. This classroom request for funding was created by Ms. Meyer and reviewed by the DonorsChoose team.
