Third grade is a pivotal point in young students elementary careers. They begin to develop their own independence and unique interests. Many of my students express these important skills and exploration of their imagination by using different websites and programs on computers or iPads.
Technology is opening many doors for students to start unique careers.
My students love to explore different topics of their choosing on the computers. They are able to research their personal interests as well as teaching others. Many times they will use Google Docs to write what they have found. They then share their research with myself through Google Docs and together we edit their work and then they teach not only themselves and other classmates, but myself as well.
Allowing them to research their own topic of choosing helps express themselves and allow their imagination to wonder. Too often, we limit students on what they may discover. Students learning should not be impeded upon.
Currently my classroom has two computers and two iPads for my students to use. I would love to add two chromebooks so my students are exposed to a variety of technological devices. My students love creating various projects and exploring different websites and apps on our computers and iPads.
Imagination and creative exploration is our specialty.
Part of third grade is learning how to do various projects on computers. My students love using google docs to type their previously handwritten papers or create a miniature research project. They enjoy practicing typing and challenging each other to different typing contests.
With two chromebooks we would have 4 different computers for my students to practice whatever their imagination creates. They can use different websites, practice typing, as well as use education apps.
