Fifth grade is an exciting year that allows students to grow and become more independent in their learning. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and all come together to create our perfect little classroom family. This year has some extra excitement to add since our classroom family gets the opportunity to stay together for another school year!
Our classroom is a positive and student-centered learning environment.
We have it all in one Gen Ed room- Autism, visual impairments, gifted learners, learning disabilities, foster students, emotions, reading deficits, ADHD... but we do not let it define us.
Creating a true classroom community encourages students to take control of their learning, creating lifelong learners.
My Project
The students of today must be digitally literate citizens to be successful in our world. They must be quick to maneuver through programs and understand what to use and when. In addition, they must be able to research topics and determine the validity of their information and if it is appropriate to use as a claim in their research.
Help me give my students a third Chromebook to practice digital literacy in our classroom on a daily basis through workshops.
Our typical classroom routine has us waiting for our assigned computer lab time during the week to use the computers. Having a Chromebook to use to supplement our classroom computers during language arts workshop time would be a great help.
A Chromebook will allow us the flexibility to take pictures of our work and create digital portfolios, to listen to educationally relevant podcasts and practice our listening comprehension skills, practice math models and word problems, and to research and word process from anywhere in the room. Since we are a flexible seating classroom, this truly is a win!
