My school is a Title I school, who uses DonorsChoose.org and grants to get the technology tools that I feel I need to appropriately teach my students. My students come from various cultures and backgrounds. Most of the families in my class have both a working mother and father due to a financial need. However, my students are always anxious to use the technology I have in my classroom, because they may not have access to it at their home.
I have many students coming 20 minutes early everyday to get one of the 12 Chromebooks I have.
Unfortunately, there are always students who do not always get a Chromebook. Often, these students are the ones who need more time to work on the Chromebooks.
I find if I ask for smaller donations for technology from my parents, I have more success. This is why I am only asking for just 2 more to make fourteen. .
My Project
If you come 20 minutes early to my class in the morning, you will see my students 'run' down the hallway to get a chance on one of my twelve Chromebooks.
Unfortunately, it isn't fair that there are not enough for all 'early' students to get on a Chromebook.
Our class only has 12 Chromebooks for my 24 eager students.
Some students in my classroom are Title One students who don't have a computer at home to do their research, Math, or Language Programs. So they depend on what Chromebooks I have in my classroom everyday.
I have even told parents of Title One students to drop their students off right when the doors open. Hopefully their students can get on a Chromebook. Unfortunately, that is not a reality that happens everyday.
