I am a first year teacher in a 6th grade class and am looking to build up the resources, library, and seating. My class is made up of inquisitive learners, with a growth mindset, and so deserving of their needs.
I have a class of 21st century children who are willing to embrace technology, celebrate inclusion, and need a culturally responsive library as they grow
My class Is eager to learn, and when we have our reading discussion, I can see that the range in need. My visual learners will ask to see a picture of what we are discussing, other students will ask for a particular book from a set because they want to read more of the story, and I have my students who just want to sit on the pillows and get comfy while they read.
Books will expand the variety that is available to students. This increases interest, knowledge, and vocabulary. Chromebooks make AR testing and research much easier.
Students raise their hand during discussion and ask in depth questions, they have a “research mind," and we need the proper resources.
Students will have chance to explore into areas of literacy they are curious about and fully engage with instant resources.
For example, I plan to feature a certain author or genre based on the heritage or socioeconomics. Then in groups do some “think questions” using discussion and Chromebooks to dig deeper into our reading.
