Each day, my students enter the classroom knowing they will have a fresh start each time the first bell rings. I make an effort to speak to each and every one of them as they come in, because I want their morning to start well with me, even if it didn't at home.
Some of my students come to school eager to learn, and some come eager just to have a hot meal and to feel that they are loved.
My classroom consists of students with life experiences that surpass my own, and of students that have never been outside our city limits. For some, my classroom is the only place they ever have access to technology and the internet. It is amazing to see the differences in their backgrounds and prior knowledge based on these variables. I have some that struggle but work as hard as they can, and some that complete the day effortlessly that challenge me to in turn, work harder to challenge them. Each year is a unique melting pot of learners!
As the use of technology programs increase in the classroom setting, access to Chromebooks help us keep up with the demand. There are more programs designed each year that are student guided based on their individual needs, and without the proper technology to use these programs, students miss out on many forms of extra help and skills practice.
Chromebooks are versatile, portable, and easily used by students of all ages.
With these devices, I will be able to schedule students online assignments throughout the day. It is important for them to have this time each day because self-guided online programs set the personalized skills practice activities for each student based on their targeted areas of need. I can use the data from the various learning programs to guide my group and individual instruction in all subject areas.
