Chrome Is More Than a Color

My Students

I work in a low income school with amazing students. My students may not have the same financial advantages as other students, but they are just as motivated. My students love learning about life cycles and having hands-on experiences. Many of my students will never have this amazing opportunity outside of the classroom.

I am a lucky teacher because we have a bonded school community.

The parents help as much as they can, and they want their children to have the same advantages as the students in other higher income schools.

My Project

I am excited to introduce Chromebooks to my second grade class. I have been taking a Google class and I have learned how amazing Chromebooks are, what they can do and that knowing how to use them is really a needed life skill.

These materials will be used in class with math, writing, literacy and science.

I have set up a Google Classroom and I will be able to have my students use the materials that I have put in it. With these Chromebooks my students will be able to read leveled book, do math fluency games, write stories, look up answers in science, do interactive slideshows and most importantly become comfortable with this technology. My students will be able to use the headphones to record themselves reading, navigate their Chromebook with a mouse and they will learn responsibility by keeping their Chromebook charged using the power strip tower.

I feel that these Chromebooks are really a tool that the students need so they will be ready for future endeavors. I want my students to be confident in themselves and to be ready for high school, college and their future job. I know that by giving them access to these Chromebooks that they will be more prepared for the future.
