Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher at a wonderful Title I school in the Washington Heights neighborhood in New York City. Ninety-six percent of our students are eligible for free lunch, but this does not dampen the spirits of these motivated students. Many of my students do not have access to technology in their homes. I have worked very hard to make our classroom a bright and happy environment, despite the struggles many of them face every day. My students are inquisitive, curious, creative and compassionate. They inspire me to be a better teacher every day.
I feel blessed to teach my students and I believe that my students are the future leaders of this country.
In first grade, I try my best to engage the kids in literacy and math centers that stimulate, enhance, and challenge them to practice the literacy and mathematical skills they need to be successful readers and writers and mathematicians.
My Project
This holiday season, I would love to surprise my amazing students with stockings filled with some Christmas themed sticker, pencils, and small toys. I am sure they will enjoy their presents during virtual learning and they can which stocking stuffer they liked the most during Show and Tell.
My kiddos have been working very hard during remote learning and they deserve a Christmas present!
Learning remotely is stressful for kids and their parents . My students need a lot of encouragement every day. I do a lot of Social Emotional Learning prior to the start of lessons on a daily basis. These presents will uplift their hearts and bring a smile them and their families. My students are amazing and smart and they are like family to me and deserve a present this Christmas . I really appreciate your support in getting this project funded. I know you can help put a smile on a first grader this Christmas!
