Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a school where Most of the population is low income, in addition, 80% of the students are English Learners. 94% of the students will be first generation going to college, and as their teacher, I have a voice. Is my job to encourge them and motivate them to continue and fight for a better future. They all have the right to go to school, Thus, Students will have a better opportunity or chance to go to college, if they have the right materials and skills.

My Project

Students will read this wonderful novel to learn about kindness, real friendship, and to alsways do the right thing. They will be exposed to situations of how people feel when they are being bully, and how a true friend should stand up for one another. In addition, students will study literature, analyze text and find main ideas. They will work on projects and analyze characters. Using text from the book, students will do literature circles to ask and answer question about the story, and make connection to real life situations. This book will teach my students how powerful a friend can be.
