I teach at a Title I school and most of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Most of my students are English Language Learners. For many of my students, this is their first experience in a classroom setting.
My students are hard working and eager to learn.
They are excited about coming to school and love learning! Kindergarten is a very special grade and I want to provide a memorable experience for my students. I love watching their confidence grow as the year progresses.
My Project
When I was in elementary school, I loved reading the choose your ending stories. I would like a magnetic spinner, journals and markers so my Kindergarten students can write about characters that inspire them and stories that they came up with.
The magnetic spinners will allow me to create a “Wheel of Characters,” a “Wheel of Settings” and a “Wheel of Events” that we would use in the stories we create together.
This would give my students true ownership of what we are writing together and I know it will make for many one-of-a-kind stories that only the imagination of a Kindergartner would come up with!
