One of the benefits of choice time in school is that they allow for creativity and free exploration of senses. Play is the best way for students to develop cognitively and become independent thinkers. It also gives them more practice with learning how to get along with friends and classmates.
Learning centers put the control in the student's hands.
With hands on learning comes the opportunity for fine motor practice. Choice time also allows children to grow their social skills. Children take the time to explore what they are interested in. Most importantly, choice time helps children when it comes to early learning skills.
The building blocks, magnetic blocks and building toys will enhance their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills. At the same time, it can develop their fine motor development, imagination and creativity. Students will be given the opportunity to create and build anything they want! These items will also help my students to develop a wide variety of social and academic skills. Through play, children learn how to get along with others, solve problems, inhibit their impulses, and regulate their emotions. Since COVID students are coming to school without these important skills. Learning to get along with peers and interact with each other in appropriate ways are very important skills that students these days are not coming to school with.
With these materials, my students will be given daily opportunities to develop many different skills they will need in their life such as: problem solving and learning how to play with others through compromise, conflict resolution and sharing.
