My Project

By third quarter, my fifth graders have grown into thoughtful, independent readers who love discussing books together. This project will help us build a complete Gordon Korman author study centered on the themes of responsibility and choice.

Students will read and discuss Supergifted, Restart, Notorious, Unplugged, and The Unteachables, exploring how different characters face challenges, make decisions, and grow from their experiences.

Through book clubs, students will strengthen their ability to analyze theme, character development, and author’s craft while learning to support their ideas with evidence from the text.

These high-interest novels encourage meaningful discussion, critical thinking, and student ownership of learning. Book clubs give students the opportunity to collaborate with peers, share perspectives, and build confidence as readers and thinkers.

The books will become a permanent part of our classroom library, allowing future groups of fifth graders to benefit from engaging literature and rich conversations for years to come. By supporting this project, donors will help provide students with books that inspire both strong reading skills and a lifelong love of reading.
