Chinese Warrior Sculptures

My students need drawing, sculpting and painting supplies to complete a study of ancient terracotta warrior sculptures from China.

My Students

This is an art and social studies project that my students just love! An archaeological dig that unearths thousands of ceramic warrior sculptures, commissioned long ago by a warmongering emperor, excites the imaginations of my third grade students!

My students will be thrilled to build their first freestanding figurative sculpture.

Our art classroom has the research and visual materials needed but we need the model magic and other art supplies to bring the project to fruition. Our school is experiencing budget cuts this year that will adversely affect the arts and sciences opportunities our children receive. Please consider helping with a fantastic project. I have presented this project in the past and it is a true favorite.

My Project

Students will draw from images of the terracotta warriors as they learn the history of the artifacts. Next, students will sculpt a warrior using Model Magic. Finally, students will paint their sculptures. Students will make a show of their sculptures to share their individual solutions to the challenge of creating a clay warrior.

China's Terracotta Army is considered the most important archaeological find of the 20th century.

My students love learning about it and get extremely excited about their sculptures. We really need the generous support for materials to make it happen this year.
