This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I still have amazing kids! We are a lovely high school in Riverside, CA and I have the good fortune of teaching 11th grade English. My students like to hold a physical book in their hands, particularly after on-line instruction. As a class, we talked about a space in our room where a person can chill and read in peace.
My Project
I teach teenagers who often don't love to read, which presents a challenge in an English class. I am creating a reading nook designed to encourage the joy of reading.
I have a very cool fall mural that is just calling for a few squishy bean bag chairs to make it the perfect reading corner.
I like the idea of adding a pretty, recycled lamp to our book nook, for the purpose of pleasure reading.
Fortunately, my classroom library was funded very generously by some wonderful donors. I continue to have great faith in my community.
