Help me give my students children literature that showcases the diversity of our world and classroom and provides opportunities to have discourse in our classroom around identity, inequality, and how we can strive to be world changers!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a first year teacher in the city of Detroit and I feel so honored to be a part of this learning community. My students come from all walks of life across the City of Detroit and our mission as a school is to provide an equitable education that will give all students a foundation of academic excellence and character development while fostering a love of learning and passion for exploring and fulfilling their extraordinary potential as learners, leaders, and world-changers.
My Project
Detroit. A City filled with so much hope and vision for a better future and world for all. I see this in my 2nd grade classroom.
I teach at a school whose mission and vision is to provide a world-class, equitable education that will give all students a foundation of academic excellence and character development while fostering a love of learning and passion for exploring and fulfilling their extraordinary potential as learners, leaders, and world-changers.
My classroom is filled with scholars from all different walks of life and experiences as residents of the City of Detroit. It is important to me as their educator to have books in our classroom that mirror that same diversity of our classroom and world and provide literature that creates opportunities to have conversations around identity and inequality and how we can collectively do our part as world-changers to make our communities and world a better place for all.
