My 2nd graders are an innovative bunch that love to learn and create. They have daily access to three Fairy Tale STEM kits, pattern blocks, puzzles, dominoes and a variety of base ten math tools. Each day they have opportunities to build, design, create, explore and imagine!
Play enhances learning experiences in profound ways!
As my students use their imagination, they are growing as communicators, architects, collaborators, designers, mathematicians and scientists. My job is to create multiple avenues for them to learn and I believe fun, hands-on experiences are the best way to foster learning.
My Project
Fairy Tale STEM kits are a favorite in my classroom, so the second kit will be a perfect addition to our hands-on choices. Another top play-learning preference are the pattern blocks where 3-D designs, geometry, symmetry, and amazing creations happen. The students will love the new challenge with the pattern block task cards. The architect design blocks are a new, engaging option that will allow imaginations to soar!
Each of these tools help my students to become creative thinkers and problem solvers!
Teaching them perseverance and adjustment when their design doesn't work out as planned, are vital life skills to be successful in the real world. The book "Iggy Peck, Architect" will be used to reinforce the concepts of never giving up and thinking in creative ways. Times of play and learning build social skills and teach life lessons as no other experience can.
