I teach 3rd, 4th and 5th grade special education. My classroom is designed for students who learn differently and need an individualized approach. Students' learning may be impacted by a variety of differences such as learning disabilities, autism, chromosomal abnormalities, etc.
My classroom is a safe second home for special learners to learn reading, writing, math, science, social and life skills.
Differences are not deficits. In my classroom, students are empowered and encouraged. Thank you for your impact on this unique and deserving community!
Thank you for your interest in my project! I have been interested in this book years and am excited for the opportunity to request it on Donor'sChoose!
This curriculum is based on a Waldorf-style education, which utilizes children's natural tendencies, such as storytelling, art, open-ended play and oneness with nature.
Our students love the math stories adapted from the same style of education. In it, students are introduced to four gnomes named Plus, Minus, Times and Divide. The gnome's personalities match their math function, for example Minus stores her coins in a bag with a large hole in it. This is a fun, creative and interesting lesson and I'm curious to learn more about this curriculum. Thank you, donors!
