Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are a family of lovers of art at CES. The students at CES are from various cultures and live in an area where art outside of school would not be attainable. They are a very special group of students who love and trust the art experiences that I have introduced so far. The materials will make a difference in their continued learning about the 7 elements of art by creating hands on projects that will incorporate what they have learned so far. The lessons will be focused on several pieces of artwork created by Dale Chihuly who is a world renowned glass artist. The lessons will begin by introducing students to various drawings by the artist. The students will create similar drawings. Once the drawings are complete, the students will use recycled plastic bottles, transparency sheets and sharpies to create beautiful glasslike sculptures like Chihuly. The students outcome will allow them to understand how to take basic art elements and concepts from one medium to another.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
