Chicks, Chicks, And More Chicks
My students need an egg incubator to better understand the life cycle of a baby chicken.
Imagine seeing a baby chick hatch before your eyes! Help our third grade students see this amazing miracle.
This project will help an entire third grade that is located in the middle of a rural town.
There are currently three third grade classrooms at the school with over seventy students. The family incomes vary greatly with over 60% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Students are taught to respect ourselves, and one another, appreciate differences, and encourage one another to reach our potential.
My students need an egg incubator to better understand the life cycle of a baby chicken. Upon receiving this incubator students will learn about agricultural practices and the food chain. The program will require approximately 20-30 minutes of classroom instruction per week for approximately twenty-one days (length of incubation of a chicken). During this time, the students will learn about food webs, agricultural careers, farm animals, animal handling, embryology, and agricultural products. We will be using many necessary Science State Standards to accomplish this goal.
To complete this project we will need your help in supplying a good quality electric incubator.
These high quality incubators are costly, but necessary for a successful outcome of healthy chickens. This incubator will be used for years to come and give each third grade student an experience that they might not otherwise have.
