This project, if fully, funded will benefit 80 plus students over many years to see baby chickens being born. They will learn about egg production and care in the United States. They will also learn that a chicken is a dual purpose animal. By funding this project we will be able to teach the children their very important Indiana science standards. Parkview Intermediate School is located in the center of the town of Bedford, Indiana. While the outskirts of town are mostly rural many students that live in town have never had the experience of being around live farmyard animals. This incubator will allow them to experience what many rural children experience sometimes daily. We are asking to have a digital mini advanced II egg classroom pack incubator to be funded. We realize that this is a very expensive incubator, but we want to make sure we have the best outcome for the embryos. This incubator will allow the students to watch a chicken embryo develop inside the egg with an ovaScope egg scope, it will also have an automatic egg turning mechanism, temperature alarms, adjustable incubation temperature plus, a chick brooder, plastic chick enclosure, and a feed and drinker container for when the chickens hatch. By having this particular egg incubator we will be sure to have a good outcome when incubating the eggs for the children.
