Our middle school is a Title I school located in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Unfortunately, Pascagoula is identified as a low income, moderately educated city. In this project I am asking that you help send our cheerleaders to a UCA overnight camp. During this trip our young ladies are able to learn new cheers and dances, but more importantly, they are able to bond as teammates. This year we were able to take 16 bright and talented young ladies on this experience of a lifetime. While there, our middle school liaisons learned that cheerleading means more than just toe touches. It means crowd leading, spirit raising, ambassadors of leadership.
My Project
Colmer Middle School receives Title I funds, and over 78% of our students are recipients of free or reduced lunches. In the years past, we have sent our cheerleaders to an incredible UCA summer camp located in Panama City Beach, Florida. Unfortunately, this cost comes strictly out of the parents' pocket. The girls also participate in local fundraisers, but it can be a challenge within the low income community. Please help us send our girls back to camp so they can participate in a once in a lifetime bonding experience. This can really only be provided by an overnight camp where our young girls put down the cell phones and begin to communicate as teammates!
