Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright, curious learners who love hands-on activities—but many of them struggle with confidence in math. To help them build strong problem-solving skills, I am requesting calculators, chess sets, and math board games that make learning both fun and meaningful.

How these materials will help:

Calculators will support students during multi-step problems, allowing them to focus on understanding concepts, not getting stuck on basic computation.

Chess builds critical thinking, strategy, and patience. Many of my students have shown interest in learning how to play, and having multiple chess sets will let them practice in pairs and small groups.

Math board games help reinforce skills through play. Games make math feel less intimidating and help students build confidence without the pressure of worksheets or tests.

Together, these tools will create a math classroom filled with discovery, teamwork, and strategic thinking. Students will be able to practice real-life problem solving, challenge themselves, and even build positive social connections—whether they’re mastering multiplication through a board game or planning their next chess move.
