My Students

Hello, I teach math in a Brooklyn Public School. Teaching 6th graders is so exciting. They're eager about themselves and new concepts. They love working on creative and hands-on activities.

My students are charismatic, energetic and inspire me to be a better math teacher.

Math always came easy to me as a student. As a teacher, I love seeing the joy on their face when they understand a concept that they previously struggled with. That worth more to me than all the money in the world!

My Project

Students are given chart paper and markers to create their own anchor charts to reference key vocabulary words or steps they need to use to solve math problems. The construction paper and the glue sticks are used for graphic organizers, 3-D figures and, displaying solutions to math problems.

Having these items will be beneficial because it will help the student to unlock their creativity and better understand the concepts.

Students should take ownership of creating their own resources. The idea of them creating the anchor chart will help cement the idea in the student's head. Having the students display their work in the classroom provide a sense of pride and accomplishment because they were able to use their own thinking to create the anchor charts.
