I teach 20 talented, energetic third graders who have a wide variety of backgrounds, interests, and experiences. Our school is located in a rural area outside of a large city. They love learning, especially when a computer or device is involved. About one-third of school receives free or reduced-price lunch but since we are not Title I, we do not receive any additional money to supplement our classrooms. Additional materials for the class are funded solely by my own pocket and grants.
My Project
My students love technology! This year we were lucky enough to receive enough Chromebooks to be 1:1. Everyone having a computer has really impacted learning in my classroom. The only problem is we don't have enough plugs to keep 20 Chromebooks charged.
We can't use our technology to the fullest when we have to take turns using plugs.
My students use their computers daily for individualized instruction during math and reading. We need a charging station so students aren't sharing or tethered to plugs around the room. This way all computers will be fully charged and ready for learning for each day.
