My Project

I am a big believer that science is a practice and we learn best by trying things firsthand. We just need your help getting these materials through the door so we can hit the ground running.

My students use interactive science notebooks daily.

We will use the stickers and thermal stickers to customize covers so students can instantly spot their own notebook, saving valuable transition time. Inside these notebooks and on project posterboards, markers, colored pencils, and stencils will be used to color-code data tables, sketch force diagrams, and design infographics on ocean energy converters. Pouches will keep these supplies organized at each station.

At the start of class, student leaders will use stamps to check notebooks, fostering leadership. We will also use magnetic hooks to display their completed work around the room.

For labs, the magnets are essential for our physics unit, allowing students to physically test magnetic fields. I am also requesting left-handed scissors so everyone can participate equitably. The mesh bags and file folders will keep our lab stations organized, giving these 8th graders the authentic experience of a real lab.

Finally, teaching 8th grade means supporting the whole child. Because their bodies are changing, I am requesting deodorant for our hygiene station. Ensuring their basic comfort means they can focus entirely on science without distraction or embarrassment.
