Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is full of amazing students. One hundred percent of our students receive their meals through the free meal program. No matter their circumstances, our students rise to the occasion.

Students function best in an engaging, exciting learning environment where their work is meaningful and valued.

They respond best when given opportunities to work on engaging projects that provide collaboration with peers and challenge them to work above and beyond their perceived capabilities.

During this difficult time of some students have chosen to return to school, while others remain in distance learning. My students are striving to be the best. They are striving to make this world a better place by taking a stance against all forms of bullying and always striving to do what is right.

My Project

All of my students want to learn how to use equipment that will prepare them for the real world. Many of them have little access to quality technology that is needed to be successful in the world today. Robotics is a field that all my students have expressed an interest in becoming more engaged in. The problem is in the iPads to run them. In our collection of iPads at the end of the year, the majority of them were returned with only cords, no blocks to plug the chargers into. My students deserve the opportunity to have access to the equipment that is running and charged.

Students who come from lower socio-economic, emotionally deprived, and special-needs backgrounds deserve the chance to utilize technological equipment!

Low-performing schools are often thought of as a deep hole that receives the lion's share of funding. These funds must be earmarked for specific items, charging hubs are not one of them. Everyday technology can be used to help develop higher-order skills in students. The use of the charging hubs will have a three-fold purpose. First, being able to have constantly charged iPads is vital in the ability to develop coding skills that can be applied for later school/career use. Second, my students will have access to robotics, along with charged devices, that are being used in all the junior high schools that they will be feeding into. They will be more prepared and able to continue their academic development through the use of this printer. Third, students will be able to develop collaborative skills through group work as they discuss how to code robots and develop coding skills that they can utilize later in their school, private, and career paths. Having charged iPads will enhance the ability of students to be effective learners.
