My Students

My students are from all different backgrounds. Some come to school from happy, well-rounded families who show them love and affection every day. Others come from situations where they are lucky if they even get to talk to mom or dad about their day because mom or dad are either working a second job or are sleeping from working the overnight shift.

My school is a wonderful place of comfort and welcomed routine for all of them.

It is a place where they all know that smiling faces are eagerly awaiting their return to see how their weekend went, or how that soccer game was. It is a place all of my students love and look forward to going to every weekday.

My Project

My students could really use some new books to read in the classroom. They have the opportunity to read frequently throughout the school day. I have noticed that my books are older, and the series that I have are pretty outdated. The students have been asking me for specific book series, and I would love to provide those to them!

I know that in order to foster the love of reading, they need to have access to books they recognize.

It would also be wonderful to be able to have multiple books in a series for them, so they can continue reading what they enjoy!
