Changing My Life With a Book

My students need more fascinating books to read. Books like Rain School by James Rumford and Poison Dart Frogs Up Close by Carmen Bredeson will help my students explore different genres, while developing their reading comprehension.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Carr's classroom raised $1,955

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my 3rd grade students come from low income single parent homes. Unfortunately, many of the parents are uneducated and not able to help their children develop reading skills. On the first day of school, more than 90% of the students that entered my classroom were reading at a third grade level. These students are hard working and goal oriented, they just need reading materials that will help them to develop the reading skills they need in order to achieve their academic goals.

My students are part of a T.E.A.M.

because we believe that Together Everyone Achieves Mastery. I know that with new reading materials we will reach our goals and become 3rd grade readers.

My Project

By getting these new exciting books in our classroom, it will help my students become grade level readers. Not only are students receiving new books to read and explore, they are also getting the wonderful gift of literacy. Once students begin to enjoy reading different genres, their academic confidence will grow exponentially.

These books will hopefully help many young children learn to love to read.

The books I am asking for will positively impact each child's reading fluency and proficiency. I believe with new books in our classroom my third grade students will stop being labeled as struggling readers and will continue to strive to become better readers.
