My Project

Our high school library is a beautiful place filled with built in bookshelves, large, heavy wooden tables, and carpet from, well, who knows when. The feeling you get when you walk in is almost like a museum-which is great except that middle school and high school students don't enjoy being there. My goal is to modernize the space while keeping the charm and beauty of its history. I want students to feel comfortable, happy, and warm when they enter the library. By updating some shelving, adding some colorful wall decor, and using functional art, such as creative book ends, I think we can change the space from cold and overbearing to warm and inviting. And, if students are eager to be in the library, perhaps they will develop the love of reading.
