My students are excited to be in their newly renovated school previously flooded by Hurricane Harvey. What a joy it is to see their smiling faces as they walk the literary-themed hallways!
Prior to the hurricane, many students were already at or below the poverty line and eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.
This continues to be their status. Adding the emotional and physical stresses of the hurricane that left many displaced and still adjusting, students are still expected to attend school and excel academically.
Everybody loves a good news story right? Especially those featured in cover stories applauding their accomplishments. Bold headlines, photographs, and colorful pages make them the center of attention. Please support publishing these stories by providing a MacBook Pro for designing and producing Champions Magazine for the school.
Readers are sure to be ecstatic reading accolades of students' and teachers' achievements published in the school's own Champions Magazine!
The published recognition will affirm and celebrate their vision and perseverance and build confidence. Champion Magazine will also be a platform for student writers, promote cultural awareness, and appeal for parental and community engagement with the school.
As Champion Magazine endorses reading, writing, and inclusion, the keepsake will also position learners as celebrities. Publishing their successes as they still continue to readjust from Hurricane Harvey's devastation makes their stories even more newsworthy!
