Kindergarten students are now expected to read and write. In order to provide a balanced, active curriculum for my students I need access to physical fitness materials. I have developed a series of outdoor activities to enhance motor skills, balance, listening skills, cooperation and sportsmanship.
My students are 4 and 5 years old.
They are active by nature. We are a title one school in California where the sun always shines. Outdoor physical activities will provide my students with numerous benefits including greater confidence, stronger self-esteem, more energy and better focus inside the classroom. Playing games together builds sportsmanship and classroom community. Studies have shown that students who are active actually have better brain function and a overall feeling of well being.
My Project
Jump ropes, activity balls, hop-a-long balls and balance boards are materials that will allow my students opportunities for physical, emotional and social growth. They are basic playground supplies that can be used over and over in multiple ways. Students will develop strength, flexibility and endurance. They will communicate, learn new vocabulary and develop a love for school and the learning environment.
Young children have a natural yearning for physical activity.
By supporting our project you will provide my students with materials that will promote an active lifestyle. Joyfully teaching students to include exercise in their daily lives can lead to a lifetime of happy and healthy living. Will you be a champion for healthy kids?
