Help me give my students challenging reading games which will further their reading skills such as snap and build blends and digraphs, leveled sight word practice cards, snap and build vowel sounds. Thank you .
Most of my students come from different backgrounds. The neighborhood where the students live is very diverse. This year, my district is starting a new school and I will be working there. The new school is located in an older building and there is not much furniture in the classrooms. Also, there is not much storage in the classroom for the teacher or the students. We have no closets in the room/
My students are in kindergarten and they are beginning to read.
Most of my students come into the classroom not knowing any of the letters of the alphabet. The students work very hard learning the letter identification and the sounds of the letters of the alphabet. Once they learn all the sounds, they begin to blend the letter sounds together to form words. After they understand how to blend letter sounds together, they move on to reading story books. The excitement in their eyes when they start reading books is precious. They become more and more motivated to read books and they are constantly going over to the class library and reading books.
My Project
In my classroom, I have many children who are reading above the proficient level in kindergarten. Unfortunately, I do not have reading games to challenge these students. These reading games on my wish list will promote my students' learning of digraphs, blends, sight words and long vowel words.
Unfortunately, my students do not have games on their level for center time.
My students are very bored during the center time because the centers I have are too easy for them. My students are learning more advanced reading skills and these games will help them reinforce their learning by having fun. Thank you.
