This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My goal for this project is to give students a way for them to check their math work independently. The VersaTiles is a program that encourages them to grow their math skills independently and allows them to control checking to see how they did. I plan to use this as a center during my Guided Math block to help them learn a wide variety of third-grade math skills.
I also am hoping to add some new puzzles to my classroom.
Puzzles are a great way to promote teamwork and challenge their thinking skills. It is fun to watch them work together to complete challenging puzzles, and their pride at the end is remarkable.
Our morning meeting calendar is incredibly worn out, and though we have been making it work, it would be nice to have a new one. This is an important part of our day where we work on a variety of skills including knowing how to read the date, knowing our days of the week, and being able to work on tally marks and other counting skills keeping track the number of days we have been in school.
