Our school does not have the furniture needed for primary small groups work. Students have to sit in adult sized chairs!
I work with special education students in a high poverty area.
Students come to my class because they need additional instruction in order to master skills in reading, writing and math because of a learning disability. In addition to their disabilities they also live in a high poverty area so they do not have the extra resource at home to supplement their education. Many are also English language learners which added another level of difficulty to their educational experience.
When students come to the special education classroom they work in small groups (about five students). Currently the only chairs available for these groups are adult sized. This leaves students sitting with their legs hanging. We need these chairs to build a better learning environment for students.
You can make a difference!
Help my students have what they need to focus on core academic instruction. Every child can learn when they are given the right materials and classroom environment.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
