LS kindergarteners and first grade students are poised at the beginning of their journey—to learn about themselves and classmates as students.
We are a small school serving a diverse population from all over Seattle (and beyond).
Donations help us get primary-specific materials beyond the basics—those more expensive items that enable us to connect deeper with learning or extend projects to tie a thread through multiple subjects.
Thank you for helping students in their formative years; the donations made to our primary school classroom ensure that young learners cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a fun and immersive environment. And the value of these experiences is far reaching; Such well-prepared students continually use these skills until they end their journeys as scholars and young adults.
My Project
Our class works at tables, which is very handy for changing work groups or partnerships! One downside is that we do not have the storage that a typical desk provides.
These chair pocket storage bibs from Lakeshore Learning are a great solution.
All the materials are nearby, so students can focus on activities and less on managing school supplies. We will store our writing and science journals, as well as our math notebooks inside. This in addition to a small set of math manipulatives to aid students in solving equations and learning place value.
Both daily and more long term seating will be positively impacted by these storage pockets. We will rotate seating assignments throughout the year, and students can simply scoot their chair to their new station or seat assignment and get into the work, or learning about their table partner. We will regularly clean the pockets out so students learn to me good stewards of their class materials.
