Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a high poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are thoughtful and enthusiastic learners.

They come to class each day eager to see their school family and tackle academic challenges. I am constantly amazed by their ingenuity and desire to be better than they were yesterday.

In my classroom we focus on becoming learners, not just learning material. Hopefully the skills they acquire are ones that will benefit them throughout their academic journey.

My Project

My students love to “sit around the room” while working. This allows them to be comfortable and more engaged in lessons and activities. However, tile floors and hard plastic chairs are not the most desirable seating.

With these cushion options, my students would be able to turn even the most uninviting surface into a comfortable learning environment.

They will transform hard cold tiles and unforgiving plastic chairs into plush and welcoming seats. These cushions will be especially useful during our upcoming state testing (we have 3!) when students are required to test for up to 4 hours while sitting in one spot.
