My Students

We are a Pre-Kindergarten Classroom at a Title I Magnet School.

My 20 four year-old students are curious, eager and energetic young learners.

The students bring to the classroom many varied life experiences from their homes and the surrounding community. We embrace both our regular, ESOL and ex-ed children in the classroom and we are located within an economically and culturally diverse neighborhood.

My students love learning and with a variety of resources, I can help them find success, instill confidence, and guide them farther than even they ever thought possible.

My Project

With a cash register, some pretend money and play food, my students can open their very own classroom restaurant in our Dramatic Play Area.

Students will learn about Financial Literacy by pretending to run their very own cafe in the classroom.

Students will take orders, cook meals, serve their customers and learn about exchanging money for goods and services. Imaginary play is a child’s way of making sense of the world and engaging in a safe environment. Through the use of these materials, my students can begin to understand money concepts and how it can be used in our community.
