This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are expressive, and full of heart. I have seen students care for each other--they are dedicated friends and are beginning to explore their own ideas and visions as artists

Creating art has allowed them to express themselves in loving, quirky, deep ways there are no words for.

The art community is a space for them to go deep into what makes things meaningful. These creative young adults deserve opportunities to make meaning through a high-quality arts education experience.

My Project

My students have been sculpting for about 6 months now, and are ready to level-up their technical skills. With your donation, students will be able to store their clay projects in the clear plastic bins to ensure their projects stay in the leather-hard sculpting stage. We will use the ribbon tools to cut into leather-hard clay they have sculpted into masks and pottery. Then, using the detailed writer, students will inlay colored slip and use the rib to scrape off any excess slip. These tools make it possible for students to advance their sculpting skills by creating clean, detailed designs on their pottery.
