I typically have about fifteen students on my caseload and they are great kids! All of my students have various forms of learning disabilities and show me everyday how to overcome their fears and insecurities!
My students are a blend of interesting, crazy, loving and inspirational!
They love showing their independence and learning things in a hands-on manner. They work very well together and love working in small groups! They teach me about patience, independence and how to be a better person.
My Project
Last year, I observed a classroom in another district and saw how they ran their own little coffee shop in their classroom. The students were in charge of it all and they learned a lot of life lessons. They also learned how to work with money, maintain an inventory, market their products and take orders.
This fall we are going to make a coffee shop for my students to work!
We will be selling the coffees for a nominal fee to be able to keep the the shop stocked. They will be able to help decide the menu and have the overall opportunity to run their own small business!
