My Project

All students are able to learn. Within my first grade classroom, students have a wide variety of abilities. This school year there are 20 students in our class. Our school is a great learning environment where students prosper. Our academic community is continuously growing as we become a Pre-K thru 5th-grade school which focuses on achieving higher expectations.

In today's society, students are coming to school less prepared with supplies and literature background knowledge.

In my experience, when students have the necessary tools and literacy support as well as the opportunity to experience through hands on experiences then they are more likely to retain the information within the lesson.

First and foremost students need materials to help aid them in their learning. Having hands on opportunities allows them to invest in their own education. The project materials that I have requested range from mat to phonics as well as handwriting that will assist in strengthening student skills.

Giving students opportunities using many avenues will assist in greater learning.

By giving them the opportunity to use math and phonics activities to explore different concepts will allow them to not only use creativity but collaboration with peers. Students will get a different way of learning other than pen and paper by having the manipulative activities. In regards to the handwriting activities, these will give students an opportunity to work on not only letter recognition but also fine motor skills.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
