This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first year teacher who is building a Center-Based Resource (CBR) classroom from the ground up. My students have various communication delays and intellectual disabilities. That means they tend to struggle to understand and communicate not only how they are feeling, but how others are feeling as well.
I want to help foster a fully inclusive school environment.
I plan to use these books and resources, not only in my classroom, but with students in the general education setting as well. This project includes books that teach about the importance of inclusion and diversity and I plan to share them with the general education teachers who also teach my students during the day. This way, all students are given the chance to learn about differences and hopefully help to prevent any "mother hen-ing" or bullying that could occur.
