My students need to learn Scientific Cell Theory with 3-D Doodlers.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
106 years is the age of the building my students come to every day. Located on the westside of Chicago, our school serves pre-K- 8th grade. Our demographic is predominantly Latino many learn English as a second language. The entire school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. Often, students eat more at school than at home. They are motivated and love, love, love to learn. Science in our room rocks. Unfortunately, staff turn over is high and resources minimal. We integrate literacy, writing and science. Each student has a Science notebook, in which they do all their work. This notebook provides a reference for the students. Soon, we will be studying cell theory . . . how cool would it be to build 3-D models of animal and plant cells with a 3-D Doodler. My students would be able to learn about cells from the inside out. Working in their teams, students will be able to actually make all the cell parts and then work together to construct three dimensional cell models. My job as an educator is to prepare these students for high school. Please help my kids connect to the world around them with hands on SCIENCE.
My Project
Most kids learn better when they are able to physically connect to the lesson. What cooler way to learn Cell Theory then to sculpt the cell parts in your group and then put all the parts together, creating a fully 3-D cell? Students will be able to analyze, compare and contrast Animal and Plant cells that were actually made by their own hands. I think the 3-D Doodlers will provide the perfect way for my students to connect and integrate to the lesson. Help me add art to my Science lesson in the best way possible. 3-D is sooooo coooool.
