Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My middle school has over 800 students across two grade levels with over 75% being minority students, over 65% economically disadvantaged students, and over 30% of the students are ELLs. While these statistics may be staggering for most people, these students do not let anything hold them back, least of all statistics.

Despite these challenges that my students face, they enter my classroom brimming with energy and with an unquenchable thirst for learning.

My students amaze me every day with their hard work and talent. Many of these students would never have an opportunity to study music and the arts if it was not offered within our school. Knowing this, the students come to class fully engaged and push themselves beyond the limits of what they thought they could possibly achieve. Any challenge I throw at them is met with a smile and determination to overcome it.

My Project

Hello and welcome to my classroom! This year my school was able to offer band as a full time class to our students. The number of students that wanted to enroll in band class far exceeded the numbers I had hoped for. This just left us with one dilemma, the number of instruments we could offer our students.

Unfortunately, I have several students that want to learn how to play the alto saxophone, but not enough alto saxophones for them to use!

Please consider donating towards my project in order to give my students the gift of two brand new alto saxophones. These instruments will go directly into the hands of my students, allowing them to play the instruments the have always wanted to. Through your donations, you will be enriching the lives of my students and giving them musical opportunities they would not otherwise have.
