Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is planning a school-wide "Celebrations Around the World" Literacy Night for all students and their families. The theme for our literacy night is December traditions and/or holidays around the world. Teachers plan a multi-age activity or arts and crafts mini project to do with parents and students that is representative of a particular country.

Celebrating traditions and holidays around the world through literacy help students foster a greater love for reading.

Our team is hoping to have students create a passport to complete as they travel from "country to country." The plan is for students to stop at the "passport photo" booth where they will take a Polaroid picture against the map backdrop for their passport. Then, students will travel to different "country" stations, completing different activities and art projects. For example, at the Israel booth, students will play dreidle. At the Germany booth, students will make gingerbread houses. Upon completion of their passports, students will be able to earn a globe key chain to take home. We are so excited to provide students with this fun experience!
