This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In my classroom students struggle to learn new material, form social connections, and work as part of a classroom team. This is a lot for 7 and 8 year-olds to manage! Many of my students have tumultuous home lives, and their emotions and challenges spill over into their school lives as well.
Positive reinforcement is so crucial to these students!
Small rewards help reinforce academic effort, appropriate expression of their emotions, and positive social skills. With your support, I'll be able to provide special rewards for each student as they learn and grow. These rewards will include fun items like stickers, playdough, and bracelets, as well as fresh school supplies like mechanical pencils, erasers, and pencil sharpeners. For children who may not have a lot at home, these rewards will be a source of joy and excitement, reminding them to continue showing desired behaviors.
