Having organized materials, working headphones, engaging books, and plenty of supplies removed barriers and allowed students to spend more time learning and less time worrying about whether they had what they needed.\r\n\r\nYour generosity also helped make our classroom a more joyful and inviting place to learn. The books, games, and creative materials gave students opportunities to explore their interests, work with others, and express their ideas in different ways. Most importantly, these resources helped me create meaningful learning experiences for a classroom of children with different strengths, needs, and interests. Using the Building Thinking Classrooms approach, students work together at the boards to solve problems, explain their thinking, and learn from each other. Students who were once hesitant to participate are now more willing to take risks and share ideas. Together, these tools have helped build confidence, collaboration, and excitement for learning. My class particularly loved using the materials to explore the properties of candy. They loved testing the melting point of different candies to determine which would be best to pack on a hot trip. Students tested, observed, and revised their ideas as they investigated physical science and basic engineering concepts. These experiences helped students develop critical thinking skills, practice collaboration, and gain confidence!
